Stephen Allan Gartland, age 58, of O’Fallon, IL, born November 4, 1959 in East St. Louis, IL passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

Stephen was very much an outdoorsman. Two of his favorite hobbies were fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was very musically inclined and a self-taught musician. He taught himself how to play many instruments. He was an avid hockey fan. Stephen was a self-employed contractor who lived his life to the fullest.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Francis and June Rose Gartland, nee Calbreath.

Surviving are two sisters, Joyce Ann (Steven) Hammock of Duck Key, FL, and Carol Ann (Roger) Parks of Austin, TX; one brother, Michael (Jennifer) Gartland of Fairview Heights, IL; and three nephews, Tracy Schau, Michael Gartland and John Gartland; numerous cousins and beloved cat Barney.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 South Lincoln Avenue, O’Fallon, IL 62269.

Interment will be held at a later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Belleville, IL where he will be laid to rest with his parents.
