Obituary for Charles F. Schutte

Charles F.  Schutte
Charles “Charlie” F. Schutte, 85, of Shiloh, IL, born February 11, 1932, in Batesville, IN passed away March 8, 2017 in Lebanon, IL.

Charles retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after honorably serving 27 years in United States Air Force. After serving in the United States Air Force he became a postal worker and was a Trustee for the Village of Shiloh, IL. Charles grew up in Batesville, Indiana on a farm and was one of eleven siblings. Later in life, he became a gentleman farmer. He was a prominent story teller and was a master Uno player. He enjoyed dogs and kids but most of all he enjoyed loving his family.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Hildegard Therese Schutte, nee Oltersdorf; parents, Ernest and Bertha Schutte, nee Richter; two sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by four children, Diane (Charlie) Chiarello of Valley Center, CA, Denise (Jim) Carroll of Shiloh, IL, Debbie Schutte of St. Peters, MO, Chuck (Pam) Schutte of Swansea, IL; two sisters; three brothers; and six grandchildren, J.B. Carroll and wife (Holly Pope), Tara Carroll, Ryan Straile, Austin Chiarello, Cameron Chiarello, and Gabrielle Chiarello.

Memorials may be made to Knight Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Washington University School of Medicine, 4488 Forest Park Blvd. campus box 8111, St. Louis, MO 63108 or Belleville Area Humane Society (bahspets.org/donate). Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.schildknechtfh.com.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am–2:00pm Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon, IL 62269.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 with Rev. Dr. Martha Thierheimer officiating.

Burial will follow at Shiloh Township Cemetery, Shiloh, IL.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Schildknecht Funeral Home.
