OBITUARY FOR GARY GOLDACKER

Gary Wray Goldacker, age 74, of Belleville, IL, born on September 1, 1942 passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016 in Shiloh, IL.

Gary earned his Master’s Degree and was an Episcopal priest with the Diocese of Springfield, IL. With this profession and calling, he traveled all over the world and enjoyed helping and meeting new people. He served his country for three years in the United States Army, was a sharpshooter, earned a good conduct medal and three letters of commendation.

Gary was a very devoted husband and adored his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and doing anything he could to keep him busy after he retired. He was an avid baseball fan and his favorite team was dependent upon where he was living at the time. Gary was also a talented amateur photographer, showcasing nature’s beauty in his work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlyle Goldacker and Florence Goldacker, nee Wray.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Goldacker, nee Barham; his daughters, Catherine Aughenbaugh of Littleton, CO and Amy (Michael) Konieczny of Troy, IL; four grandchildren, Megan (Daniel) Nelson, Bailey (Tyler) Kragenbrink, Alex Konieczny and Kathryn Konieczny, one great-grandchild, Liam Nelson; step-mother Faye Goldacker; a sister, Mary Kay (Michael) Lowe; and two brothers, Gene (Janice) Goldacker and Don (Debra) Goldacker.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 111 O’Fallon Troy Road, O’Fallon, IL 62269. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:00 am at the church with Bishop Daniel Martins officiating.

A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Schildknecht Funeral Home, O’Fallon, IL.
