Obituary for William Kowal

William Kowal, 68 of O’Fallon, IL, born March 23, 1948 in Blossburg, PA, passed away Thursday July 7, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

Bill is a United States Air Force M.Sgt. Retired, proudly serving as a veteran of the Vietnam War, member of the O’Fallon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 805, O’Fallon Moose Lodge #2608. He enjoyed playing pool & chess with his friends, fishing and watching his beloved New York Yankees & New York Giants.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Alexander Kowal Sr. & Dorothy Kowal (nee Domas), brothers; Alexander Kowal Jr., John Kowal, sister; Diana Kowal, grandfather; William Michael Kowal, best friend; Kenny Wiest.

He is survived by his children; Michael (Julie) Kowal of Godfrey, IL, Melinda (Corey) Osborne of O’Fallon, IL, granddaughter; Joli Dupy, former spouse; Daeng Prell of Thailand, brother; Francis Kowal of New York, sisters; Roberta Brown of Michigan, Marilyn Wiest of O’Fallon, brother in-law; Robert (Malee) Huth of Florida, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorials may be made to the O’Fallon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 805, www.vfwpost805.org Condolences and tributes may be extended to the family online at www.schildknechtfh.com.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 5:00 pm -8:00 pm at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 S. Lincoln Ave. O’Fallon, IL. 62269.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Deacon Dennis VanderVen officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO. with full Military Honors.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Schildknecht Funeral Home.
