Obituary for Richard Lawrence LaFreniere

Richard LaFreniere, 75 of O’Fallon, IL, born September 8, 1940 in North Adams MA. died Sunday, August 7, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. LaFreniere retired from the United States Army after achieving the rank of Major. He proudly served in Okinawa, Korea, and Vietnam. He was an alumnus of Boston College, a member of VFW Post 805, Elks Lodge, National Rifle Association, and the United States Golf Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Florina LaFreniere (nee Deneault), his sister Jeanne Emond, and grandson Devan Jacobs.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah LaFreniere (nee Puckett) of O’Fallon, IL, his children Monica (Harry) Sawdaye, Christien LaFreniere of O’Fallon, IL, and Amber (Terry) Jacobs of O’Fallon, IL, his sister Claire Packer of Chillicothe, OH, and his grandchildren Hayleigh Sawdaye, Penelope Sawdaye, Isabella Roy, Jacob LaFreniere, Kaitlyn Jacobs, and Michael Jacobs.

Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday August 10th from 5 pm to 7 pm at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 S. Lincoln Ave, O’Fallon, IL 62269.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday August 11th at 10:30 am at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full Military Honors.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Schildknecht Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
