Alan Richard Canterbury, 84, of Lebanon, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 16th, 2017 in Lebanon, IL.
Alan was born on October 4th, 1932 in O Fallon, IL. He worked as a civil engineer in the waste and water department for the government, attended St. John's United Church of Christ in Fairview Heights, IL where he married his wife, Jacqueline, 51 years ago, and was a member of the O’Fallon Masonic Lodge #576 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies of Southern Illinois, and the National Rifle Association. Alan was a huge animal lover and enjoyed being outdoors, where you could find him partaking in some of his favorite past times: hunting, camping, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hawley and Alice Canterbury, nee Titter; sister, Barbara Brooks; and brother, Ray Canterbury.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jacqueline Canterbury, nee Carpenter of Lebanon, IL; daughter, Ellen (Christopher J.) Taylor of Belleville, IL; sister, Marsha (Bill) Jones of Taylorville, UT; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will be held at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 South Lincoln Avenue, O'Fallon, Illinois 62269 on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with Masonic services at 7:00 PM and at St. John's United Church of Christ, 10207 Lincoln Trail, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208 on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Memorial service will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, 10207 Lincoln Trail, Fairview Heights, IL 62208 on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Rosemary Captain officiating.
Private committal services will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Illinois.
