Lorraine E. Gelatka, nee Foland, 96, born Monday, August 22, 1921 in Gaylord, KS, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Memorial East Hospital in Shiloh, IL.
Lorraine was a gifted artist in many ways. Her family loved hearing her adventurous stories of growing up in New York City during the 20’s & 30’s. Lorraine married Chuck Gelatka, who played for the New York Giants and after the war, they settled in Chicago, IL. In 1998 she moved to Shadow Lake Village, Red Bank NJ.
Lorraine studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. She was an accomplished artist, crafter and quilter and will be remembered for her beautiful pastels and quilts. She will also be remembered for her love of her family, the NY Giants, Yankees, Hershey Kisses and lunches at the Shrewsbury Diner.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Charles T. Gelatka.
Surviving are her two children, Charles (Diane) Gelatka of Belleville, IL, Linda (fiancé, Tom Argentieri) Forrest of Shrewsbury, NJ; four grandchildren, Christa (Tim) Jenkins, Michael (Tina) Forrest, Andrew Forrest, Annie (Brian) Steckroth; six grandchildren, Danna Jenkins, Alec Jenkins, Charlie Steckroth, Campbell Steckroth, Claire Steckroth, Ben Forrest.
