Wayne Ellsworth Loecher, 89, of Naples, FL, recently moved to O’Fallon, IL, born February 17, 1928 in New Athens, IL, passed away on December 13, 2017 in O’Fallon, IL.
Wayne honorably served in the United States Army. He earned his Bachelor’s degree and started his career as an engineer for Eagle Pitcher Bearing. He truly had the brain of an engineer, he could build anything he wanted. In 1950 he built his first television. Wayne was an artist at heart and had a huge passion for music. He was a musician and arranged music for a swing band. He was a huge fan of the jazz genre. Some of his other passions included foreign sports cars, being an avid reader, specifically reading Scientific American books, and enjoying Western and World War II movies with whomever would join him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellsworth and Helen Loecher, nee Burk; and wife, Edna Loecher, nee O’Hanesian.
He is survived by a sister, Diane (Carey) Eyre of O’Fallon, IL; a brother, Steve (Anna Fink) Loecher of Swansea, IL; nieces and nephews, Debra (Mike) Santoro, Ed (Lori) Eyre, Shelley (Doug) Harris, Nathan Loecher; and great-niece, Alexandra Harris.
