Obituary for Donald L. Hubert

Donald L. Hubert, Sr., of O’Fallon, IL, age 79, born November 8, 1937 in Newark, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017.

Donald served his country for 22 years and retired as a Msgt. in the United States Air Force. His passion in the Air Force was K9 training. One of his proudest moments in the military, was serving as the body guard for Bob Hope and Ann Margret during the Korean War. Donald got his Masters degree in Criminal Justice and became the area Security Manager for Sears, while teaching Criminal Justice at SWIC and serving on many trials as a professional witness. Although, he took his career very serious and was extremely proud, he loved making people laugh and always had a joke to tell anyone that would listen.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents: Leroy and Helen Hubert, nee Garabrandt, wife; Sotui Hubert, nee Song, three brothers; George, Clarence and Ronald Hubert; one sister; Dorothy Murphy.

Donald is survived by three children; Jeannett Helen Self, Donald L. Hubert Jr. and Sue Ann Lohrenz, six grandchildren; Autumn Dawn Huff, Mitchell P. Self, II, Matthew S. Hubert, Devin M. Lohrenz, Shelby N. Lohrenz and Elizabeth S. Hubert, one great-grandchild; Andi J. Huff, two son in-laws Mitchell P. Self and Darin S. Lohrenz, one daughter in-law; Tammy L. Hubert

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 9:00am – 11:00am, at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon, IL.

Funeral service will be held Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Downs officiating.

Burial will follow at O’Fallon City Cemetery, O’Fallon, IL.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Schildknecht Funeral Home.
