Jane Ellen Poole, nee Brockhahn 72, of Lebanon, IL, formerly of O’Fallon, died October 28, 2016 at Cedar Ridge in Lebanon. She was born in Belleville, IL on August 22, 1944.
Jane Ellen graduated O'Fallon Township High School Class of 1962 and went to work for the City of O'Fallon, IL in the Water Department then as a Dispatcher and Matron with the O'Fallon Police Department. She married Joseph W. Poole on June 22, 1974, who was at that time, in the United States Air Force. She joined him in his travels with the military until he retired in 1988 while helping in raising her stepson John and two stepdaughters Janet and Carol. Upon her husband's retirement they settled into country living between Scott Air Force Base and Troy. She was employed by St. Clair County Grants Department for fifteen years until her retirement in February 2005.
Following her Mother's footsteps she became a member of O'Fallon Chapter No. 487, Order of the Eastern Star of Illinois. She served as Worthy Matron in 1995 and 2001. She was a Grand Lecturer, appointed twice as a Grand Representative, and was appointed as a Grand Officer in 2009. She served as Chapter Secretary for fourteen years. Jane Ellen was very active with Bethel No. 67 O’Fallon Job’s Daughters International serving in several Guardian Council positions. She was also a Life-Member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed reading, her work with Order of the Eastern Star, Job’s Daughters International, travel, especially cruises having sailed transatlantic, coast to coast through the Panama Canal, Alaska, Hawaii, and many other destinations.
She was preceded by her parents; Edgar and Maxine Brockhahn nee Mackey; stepson; John Poole and by her niece Brandi Brockhahn.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Poole, brother, Edgar (Joyce) Brockhahn of Lebanon, IL, stepdaughters, Janet Richmond of Camp Verde, AZ, Carol (Richard) Deleon of Braman, OK, nephews, Andrew (Jessica) Brockhahn, Edgar (Dee) Brockhahn, Mark (Keeley) Smith, and one niece, Elizabeth (Alex) Dickinson, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday November 3, 2016 4:00 – 8:00 PM with Order of the Eastern Star Service at 7:30 PM at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon, IL 62269.
Private graveside services will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
