Robert Kemp, age 81, of O'Fallon passed away Sunday, July 3rd, 2016 at Belleville Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born on July 31, 1934 in East St. Louis, IL. He proudly served our country four years in the United States Air Force. In 1956 he married the love of his life, whom he lost 20 years ago. He was a member of the Local 534 Meat Cutters Union. He was very devoted to his family and was a Dad to everyone in the neighborhood. Robert enjoyed working puzzles, was an avid fan of art work and enjoyed traveling. He was an avid Cardinals fan and enjoyed spending Sundays with his sons watching football.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Byrd and Olga Kemp (nee Schwartz), his loving wife Marilyn G. Kemp (nee Pluff); and two sisters, Hazel Kemp and Jeanne Kemp.

Survivors include his children, Debra (Edward) LaBruyere of Fairview Heights, IL, William (Diane) Kemp of Shiloh, IL, John Kemp of O'Fallon, IL, Donna (Paul) Swanson of O'Fallon, IL, Kathleen (Steven) Newcomb of O'Fallon, IL and Dana (Tom) Gardner of Affton, MO; grandchildren, Stephanie Faith, Robert Faith, Angela Faith, Mary Kemp, Kristie Kemp, Ryan Kemp, Jessica Kemp, Johnny Kemp, Melanie (Swanson) Dziurdzy, Michael Swanson, Nicole Newcomb, Curtis Newcomb, Kaitlyn Newcomb, Alexis Newcomb, Alex Gardner, Devan Gardner and Jack Gardner; and great-grandchildren, Alyssa Wills, Madilynn Faith, Gabrielle Faith, Mason Dimeglio, Grace Dimeglio, Keaton Faith, Keira Faith, Cale Downs, Davis Downs, Camden Dziurdzy, Alina Dziurdzy and Noah Newcomb.

The family would like to thank Belleville Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care Robert received.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm, and Friday, July 8, 2016 at 9:00 am - 9:30 am at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 S. Lincoln Ave. O’Fallon, IL. 62269.

Funeral services will be held on Friday July 8, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 1411 Cross Street, Shiloh, IL 62269 with the Father Jim Deiters officiating.

Burial will follow at College Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, IL.
