Mary Ellen Battoe nee Berens, 89, of O’Fallon, IL, born on May 2, 1927 in New Baden, IL, went to be with her Lord on December 25, 2016 at Cedar Ridge Health Care in Lebanon, IL.

Mary Ellen was retired from the O’Fallon Township High School. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and visiting shut-ins. When she was able, she enjoyed attending the Panthers Basketball games.

She was a member of the O’Fallon United Church of Christ of O’Fallon, IL the Women’s Guild, the 50+ Club, and the Visitation Committee all associated with the O’Fallon United Church of Christ.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; Robert and Elizabeth Berens nee Galloway, husband; Ralph Battoe Jr., 3 brothers; Patrick, Robert and Arthur Berens, 3 sisters; Mildred Utter, Ida Mae Buesking and Martha Woods, a niece; Donna Mae Kress.

Mary Ellen is survived by two sons; Scott (Barbara) Battoe and Douglas (Diane) Battoe of O’Fallon, IL, 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. Mary Ellen is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday December 29, 2016 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon, IL 62269.

Funeral services will be held on Friday December 30, 2016 at 10:00 am at O’Fallon United Church of Christ, 206 West Adams, O’Fallon, IL.

Burial will follow at College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, IL.
